Strawberry Moon Mask
Mini Facial

M🌘🌚ns and strawberries 🍓 happen to be two of my most favorite things! Every June we have a strawberry moon that represents the peak season for picking strawberries. Tonight, I’m going to celebrate by relaxing out on the deck with a home-made face mask, a flute of champagne, and maybe some Nick Drake playing in the background.

When I set out to Whole foods yesterday I had no idea that the strawberry mini moon was today! Anyways,It was on my shopping 🛒  list to pick up strawberries, young coconuts 🌴 , and avocado 🥑 . I guess you could say that I was feeling a bit tropical 🌴 🐠. You might be trying to figure out what a rambutan is right now though but I’ll get to that in a bit.

So, I had already planned on making a strawberry and some sort of exotic or tropical mask this month and It just so happened that I’d get around to it today. I don’t want to keep you too long so briefly I’ll explain the ingredients and their benefits.

                              🍓 Strawberries 🍓
This fruit, that’s right strawberries are a fruit not an actual berry and its loaded with vitamins C & E! I can’t help but keep a fresh bowl of these around when it starts to warm up.

  • Besides the fact that it keeps scurvy at bay It brightens the skin and reduces hyperpigmentation, also known as discoloration of the skin which can be caused by sun damage, and acne.
  • Reduces redness and irritation caused by disorders like rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, acne flares and any other irritations. Unless of course you are simply allergic to strawberries. In that case, this mask is not for you. Sorry.
  • Stimulates collagen production and heals wounds.
  • Exfoliates the skin with Salicylic acid which is a beta hydroxy- acid AKA (BHA)
  • Vitamin E will help slow aging because it is a natural antioxidant

                                     Rambutan
This fruit hails from south east Asia, I hadn’t even heard of it until I went to wholefoods the other day! By the way, I think its their spotlight fruit or something like that. It looks red and prickly but it’s pretty soft. And if you’ve ever had a Lychee then you know what a rambutan tastes like. Sweet and floral.

  • Also rich in vitamin C
  • Anticeptic properties
  • Contains vitamin B3 which is a niacinamide. Nicinamide suppresses melanin from reaching the epidermis of the skin. This is a good thing for damaged or irritated skin.
  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles, and strengthens the skins elasticity.
  • Hydrates the skin.

                             Strawberry Moon Mask
                                   How It’s Made

Ingredients

  • 4 cut and seedless rambutan
  • 4 cut and stemless strawberries

Optional ingredients

  • Honey  🍯
  • Oatmeal

Appliances

  • Food processor or blender
  • Obviously a knife to peel the skin and stem.
  • A bowl or container for the finished product
  • A fan brush if you have it, or you can just use your hands for the application

                                   Instructions

If you decide to use the oatmeal, which has moisturizing, soothing and firming property’s for the skin you should refine it first by putting it into the food processor or blender. Once you’ve done that, transfer the powdered oatmeal to a separate container and set aside.
Add your strawberries and Rambutan to the food processor or blender and blend until it resembles pudding. Now you can slowly add your oatmeal and honey if you wish. This mask smells so divine you can obviously do this mask at anytime these fruits are available to you, I just thought today would be cool to try it. And yes It’s 💯%  safe to eat!

*Use only fresh and clean fruits 🍓
*Peeling the skin off the strawberries is recommended to        help eliminate any possible bacteria on the fruit.
*use clean and sanitized utensils and appliances
*Do not even attempt to try this if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
