Talking about Fenty Beauty

If I were to mention the name Robyn Fenty, no one would know who I’m speaking of. But If I mention Fenty Beauty everyone would know that Rhiana is the arcane name behind this newly launched line which caters to a new generation of color saturated skin. With a cache of 40 different shades ranging from Ivory tones to deep Kukui tones you can say that Rhiana’s goal was to make sure that anyone could be fit into their proper shade. On a side note, Kukui is the Hawaiian state tree. the nuts of this tree are used for many things and in many remedies. The shells of the Kukui nut are also used to make neckless and bracelets that you would typically see at gift shops in Hawaii.

Moving on, by now you have seen a ton of reviews given by vloggers and bloggers from around the world. And maybe you’ve tried it yourself like I did. Either way, if you are curious about my opinion I’ll show you what I’ve tried and how I tried it. Keep in mind that there are many skin types and conditions so my preference and experience won’t be the same for everyone else.

FOUNDATION- The color I chose was 370. It was the best fit for my tone and shade. I was fooled by the colors that looked the closest to my skin at an eyes glance. So, it took me a few tries to find my fit.  I first tried it without any primer or moisturizer just so I could feel it bare. And from there, I tried other methods. My personal favorite method is to complete my skin care then mix my foundation with my SPF. If I need more coverage I press in 1 or 2 dots in the needed areas only. I usually apply my foundation with my hands by moving in a gentle upward motion and I finish with pressing the product into the skin.  This method gives the skin a beautiful natural finish with no traceable lines. Sometimes I use a large buffing brush when I’m adding a fuller coverage.

Here are the ways I played with the application
👇🏽👇🏽

BARE TEXTURE- If you’ve heard that the foundation dries quickly then you heard correctly. My skin is mostly normal to dry these days so the foundation went matte as soon as it touched my bare skin and exposed any texture that it could find.

PRIMED TEXTURE- I tried the foundation with the primer alone, and the texture was just the same. Keep in mind my skin is normal- dry. More on the dry side though.

MIXED PRIMER + FOUNDATION – This method sheered out the foundation a bit and it gave me more slip. But, my skin absorbed the product just as quickly as the other method so

MOISTURIZER- After toning and moisturizing the foundation went on and finished more comfortably and was still a nice matte texture. Usually when I do this with a matte foundation it leaves me with a satin finish.

MIXED MOISTURIZER + FOUNDATION – Or mixed SPF, whichever. This was the best method for me. I mixed 1- 2 pumps of foundation with one drop of Control Corrective’s Botanical Soothing SPF 30 over the primer and it spread smoothly. It also set natural – matte.

I like the overall texture of the foundation. It is definitely water resistant and non-transferable. If you are familiar with Temptu airbrush makeup the texture is very similar to that once it is set. I can wear it all day and I can wear it without a setting powder.

What I don’t like about it is that for my specific skin type, it isn’t practical for an everyday grab and go foundation. You know, like when you wake up late and think “I’ll just put my foundation on in the car.” Nope! Because it dries so quickly.

MATCH STIX TRIO-  Tan 300 was my trio. I think I’m gonna go back and grab the suede Match Stick because the caramel is a bit on the ashy side for me. Suede is probably the exact match of my skin but that is how I prefer my highlight as I just use a deeper blush with a deep contour. The Rum shimmer stick is just perfect. I use it for a quick eyelid and lip highlight.Speaking of highlight, The Galaxy Collection is available now! It really does look out of this world and I can't wait to try it!

By the way, did you notice my cute aloha cosmetic pouch? I got it from Matsumoto Shave ice on the north shore of Oahu. You can order it online here 👉🏽 matsumotoshaveice.com
But I recommend that you take a ✈️ trip to the cute island store in person instead!

🌸Aloha🌸
